GETTING HERE

Driving from Glasgow

From Bearsden, just follow the A81 straight through to Aberfoyle. This road also takes you past Killearn and Gartmore. It takes approximtely 35 mins from Beasden to Aberfoyle, depending on the traffic. When you see signs for Gartmore, just pay attention until you have reached a small roundabout, with the Rob Roy Hotel on your left. Turn left at the roundabout and you will have reached Aberfoyle. Alternatively, you can take the M80 motorway to Stirling (35 mins) and then the directions from Stirling to Aberfoyle (35 mins) below - although this might take you longer.

Driving from Edinburgh

Take the M9 motorway to Stirling (1 hour) and then follow the directions from Stirling to Aberfoyle.

Driving from Stirling

Option A (32 mins). Take the A84, past Blair Drummond Safari Park (on your right) until you reach the Smiddy Farm Shop (on your left). Take a left there onto the A873 - this exit is signposted as 'Aberfoyle' and 'Trossachs Trail'. Follow this road all the way to Aberfoyle. The A873 goes past Thornhill, eventually joins in with the A81 and takes you past Port of Menteith and until the Braeval roundabout. Here, turn right and you will have reached Aberfoyle.

Option B (33 mins). Take the A811, past Gargunnock until you reach Arnprior. Slow down when you reach Arprior as there is a speed camera and you will want to turn right here onto the B8034 towards Port of Menteith. When you reach Port of Menteith, turn left onto the A81 until you reach the Braeval roundabout. Here, turn right and you will have reached Aberfoyle.

 

TRAVELLING BY BUS

From Glasgow

You can take the X10A Bus from Glasgow Buchanan Street Bus Station to Stirling, which stops at Aberfoyle. If you don't know Glasgow, it would be safest to board here.. You can find the bus timetable and other stops here.

From Edinburgh

You can get a Citylink Bus from Saint Andrew's Square Bus Station in Edinburgh to Stirling, and then get the X10A Bus from Stirling to Aberfoyle, as explained above.

From Stirling

You can take the X10A Bus from Stirling to Glasgow, which stops in Aberfoyle. You can get the bus at Stirling Bus Station from stance 11. The bus station is located next to the train station. You can find the bus times and other stops here.

 

TRAVELLING BY TRAIN

Within Scotland, board any Scotrail train bound for Stirling Train Station and then get the X10A bus from the bus station (located next to the train station) to Aberfoyle. There are no direct trains to Aberfoyle. We may be able to arrange pickup from Stirling train station, but this is not guaranteed.

 

TRAVELLING BY AIR

Glasgow Airport

Option A (Recommended)

  1. Take the Glasgow Airport Express 500 bus service to "George Square at Queens Street Station".

  2. From Queen Street, take the train directly to Stirling.

  3. From Stirling Station, take the X10A bus to Aberfoyle. You can find the X10A bus timetable here.

  4. We may be able to arrange pickup from Stirling train station, but this is not guaranteed.

Option B (longer)

  1. Take the Glasgow Airport Express 500 service to "Buchanan Street Bus Terminal".

  2. From there take the X10A bus to Aberfoyle. You can find the X10A bus timetable here

Edinburgh Airport

Option A (recommended)

  1. Once you arrive at Edinburgh Airport, take the airport tram to Edinburgh Park Station.

  2. From Edinburgh Park, take the train to Stirling.

  3. From Stirling Station, take the X10A bus to Aberfoyle. You can find the X10A bus timetable here.

  4. We may be able to arrange pickup from Stirling train station, but this is not guaranteed.

Option B (longer)

  1. Once you arrive at Edinburgh Airport, take the 909 or 978 Citylink bus from the airport to Stirling bus station.

  2. From there take the X10A Bus to Aberfoyle. You can find the X10A bus times here.​

Option C (if you want to visit Edinburgh first)

  1. Take the Airlink 100 bus (departing the airport every 10 minutes) or the tram to St Andrew Square Bus Station in Edinburgh,,

  2. From Edinburgh Waverley, take the train to Stirling.

  3. From Stirling Station, take the X10A bus to Aberfoyle. You can find the X10A bus timetable here.

  4. We may be able to arrange pickup from Stirling train station, but this is not guaranteed.
