    One of the fundamental skills of any taiko player is the to listen to understand how parts fit together and to play as a group. This workshop focuses on these fundamental skills and gives participants a practical process that they can apply to improve any piece. Taught by Shoji Kameda.

    The style is truly improvisational, with just two people hitting on each side of the drum. Yuta Kato has lived on Hachijo for 15 months and immersed himself in the taiko and culture there. In this workshop he will share his experiences, along with "tendencies" that make Hachijo taiko unique.
