TAIKO GASSHUKU ALBA
Taiko Gasshuku Alba is a five-day intensive retreat suitable for intermediate to advanced Taiko players looking to take their Taiko drumming skills to the next level. Set against the idyllic backdrop of the Scottish Highlands, the Gasshuku is an opportunity to connect with Taiko players from across the world and immerse yourself in key Taiko drumming concepts under the guidance of world-class instructors. Classes will be held in Gartmore Village Hall and in Aberfoyle Memorial Hall. Both venues are separated by a 10-minute drive, but we will provide a shuttle service for those who do not have transport.
For our second event, we are thrilled to announce the return of both Shoji Kameda and Yuta Kato as the lead instructors. We wanted to make sure the course content again encompassed a broad range of Taiko skills, so we have decided upon the following topics. Shoji will teach a new composition, which features Taiko Set, Beta Uchi, and Katsugi Oke, and Yuta will teach his approach to Kris Bergstrom's iconic naname piece, Jack Bazaar.
Over the course of five intense days, participants will receive over 30 hours of tuition.. We have two venues for this year's Gasshuku; Aberfoyle Memorial Hall and Gartmore Village Hall. Participants will be split into to groups and will alternate between venues each day. Our festival crew will organise transportation between both locations. The fifth day will be used as a rehearsal for the weekend concerts.
Spaces on the intensive will be limited and we are expecting the demand to be very high. Registration is open now, so click the button below to reserve your space. If you have any questions, please feel free to drop us a message via the contact page.
