About the event
In this workshop we will attempt to 'tame the dragon' of recording aTaiko ensemble, which is generally regarded as one of the very hardest types of music to record successfully. We will look at microphone technique and choices, placement and good recording practices, as well as look at what auxiliary equipment is needed to take to a location to run a successful and safe recording session. Time will be spent on examining why Taiko is so hard to record and the sound of the various different Taiko drums. The emphasis will be on hands-on recording of an actual ensemble, and all participants will be able to take away all the resulting audio files they make to listen to and learn from later at home. Led by James Lehmann.
