Obon is a time of gathering to celebrate and remember those who have come before us. The Bon Odori is a time to dance and celebrate. Around 2009, we at Odaiko Sonora felt we should have our own dance; one that would reflect our desert home. Led by Nicole Stansbury.

About the event
Obon is a time of gathering to celebrate and remember those who have come before us. The Bon Odori is a time to dance and celebrate. Around 2009, we at Odaiko Sonora felt we should have our own dance; one that would reflect our desert home. The piece was forged over time by many people, shaped and changed by the energy from year to year. With movements celebrating the unique landscape of the Sonoran Desert, Tucson Ondo is a gift we would like to share with the whole taiko community. This workshop will focus on the dance and chant portions of the Tucson Ondo as well as the history and evolution of the piece in it’s role in Tucson’s All Souls Festival. Led by Nicole Stansbury.
